trap neuter
return
Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) is a full management plan
in which stray and feral cats already living
outdoors in cities, towns, and rural areas are
humanely trapped, then evaluated, vaccinated, and
sterilized by veterinarians. Kittens and tame cats
are adopted into good homes when homes are
available through no-kill shelters. Healthy adult
cats unsocialized to humans are returned to their
familiar habitat under the lifelong care of
volunteers who act as their caretakers.
At this time
there are no laws in DuPage County regarding Trap
Neuter Return. Feral cats brought to DuPage Animal
Control are humanely euthanized.
TNR is legal in
Cook County and an ongoing iniative is underway
there.
Initiatives are
also underway in DuPage as well to make Trap
Neuter Return legal.
Feral Fixers (http://www.feralfixers.org)
is leading these initatives and we whole heartedly
support Feral Fixers in this effort. If you have
any questions regarding TNR in Dupage county or
need assistance trapping feral cats, please
